You may have noticed over the last few weeks that three Grant County towns have produced videos to showcase the best things about where they live. These videos are being used as entries in HGTV’s Home Town Takeover Contest.
The goal is to convince HGTV that these home towns are most deserving of a little “face lift.” Ben and Erin Napier, who recently renovated their own home town of Laurel, Mississippi, will host the six-part series, which is set to air in 2021.
According to HGTV, the goal is to help “create and foster a town persona that draws on its roots, history and traditions.” The town overhaul will include “the rehab of multiple individual family homes as well as the revitalization of public spaces —parks, local diners or restaurants and outdoor recreation areas.”
There are three requirements a town must meet in order to be considered:
- A population less than 40,000
- Houses and buildings with great architecture
- A Main Street in need of TLC
The deadline for entries has already passed, but here are the videos our local towns have submitted.
As they say, may the best town win!
