The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) on Friday reported that Indiana has 2,328 new Covid-19 cases, the highest one-day totals to date. 3,654 Indiana residents have died due to Covid-19 and Indiana has over 141,212 total cases. ISDH reports that 1,532,949 unique tests have been given to date. The first case of the virus in Indiana was reported on March 6, and the first Indiana death on March 16.
On Wednesday, Governor Holcomb extended the mask mandate for an additional month and reprimanded those putting others at risk, saying, “Throwing caution to the wind, ultimately ends up costing us all . . . It is the literal definition of whistling past the graveyard, pretending this isn’t around us.” Also this week, the state’s health commissioner, Dr. Kristiana Box, tested positive for Covid-19.
Free drive-up Covid-19 testing by the ISDH is available 9 am – 6 pm at the Grant County Fairgrounds, 1403 Indiana 18, in Marion. Testing is also available in Wabash at Parkview FirstCare Walk-In Clinic, 1655 Cass St., 8 am – 8 pm Monday – Friday and 8 am – 2 pm on Saturday.
