Around 8:00 Tuesday morning, the Marion Police Department responded to the 2000 block of S. Meridian Street after a body was found lying on the ground. The coroner also responded to the scene.
At first, MPD only described the person as “male, black, with facial hair and wearing a black t-shirt and sweatpants.” They later identified him as 30-year-old Deandre J. Oliver of Marion.
MPD immediately stated their investigation points to foul play, suggesting that Oliver had been murdered. His body was sent for an autopsy, which will take place at Northeast Indiana Forensic Center.
Deandre Oliver was widely known around the Marion area for being a successful battle rapper who traveled to compete all around the country, and his unexpected passing has hit hard for those who knew him.
