Murder Trial for the 2018 Killing of Grant County Teen Underway

In October of 2018, two brothers were attacked and stabbed during a robbery attempt in the middle of a Grant County country road. Seventeen-year-old Ethan Wolff and his brother, 22-year-old Austin Wolff were both transported from Marion General Hospital to a Fort Wayne hospital, which is where Ethan Wolff later died from his injuries.

Two suspects were arrested in this case: Eric Jordan (20) and Matthew Rudisel (18). In December of 2019, Jordan pleaded guilty to attempted murder and murder, and the judge sentenced him to 60 years in prison.

Earlier this week, the trial began for Matthew Rudisel, who has been charged with both murder and robbery for his participation in the deadly incident. The trial is taking place in the Grant County Superior Court 1, in front of Judge Jeffrey D. Todd, and it is expected that a verdict could be reached by the end of this week or early next week.

Channel 27 News has spoken many times with Ethan and Austin Wolff’s mother, Kristi Wolff, over the last few years, but when we caught up with her at the start of the trial being held for one of the two men who killed her son, she did not want to speak about the specifics of the court case, because she did not want to risk jeopardizing the trial or it’s outcome. Instead, she asked the community for continued prayers.

If she is willing to give us an interview on camera, we will update this post to include that video, which you will probably see first on the Channel 27 News & Entertainment Facebook page.
