In an update to our earlier impeachment story, we can now report that the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, will send the Impeachment Articles, passed by the House of Representatives, to the United States Senate on Wednesday. Upon their arrival, the impeachment trial will formally begin in the Senate, although it seems no action will be taken on the Senate floor until sometime early next week.
It’s been reported that the Articles will be formally sent Wednesday evening, possibly around 5:00 PM.
Speaker Pelosi also chose today to name the House Managers, who will go to the Senate floor and prosecute the impeachment case against President Donald J. Trump.
The House Managers include the following House Representatives:
Adam Schiff (D-California)
Jerrold Nadler (D-New York)
Hakeem Jeffries (D-New York)
Val Demings (D-Florida)
Jason Crow (D-Colorado)
Sylvia Garcia (D-Texas)
Zoe Lofgren (D-California)
Now that the impeachment process is once again in motion, Chief Justice John Roberts, who will preside over the trial, will be sworn in, and then all one hundred U.S. Senators will take an oath, swearing to conduct a fair and impartial trial.
We will continue to update this story in the following days and weeks.
